Those Memories Made on Teardrop Lake – (55) Women of a Certain Age

It was just after the Sunday morning service had ended at St Jude’s in Shallowfield when Paul Pini spotted her and thought for a woman of her age she had a particularly nice figure.
The woman in question had just come down the steps from the Church and had stopped briefly to converse with friends and by that time he was sitting at a table outside Addison’s Café just opposite the church entrance.
He was not a Christian himself but he was often sat outside the Church on a Sunday morning when Church emptied of all the Christian ladies, having been for his usual morning constitutional around Teardrop Lake.
Which on the face of it sounds very wrong, but in his defence he sits there enjoying a coffee before continuing his walk home to have his lunch, alone.
But he would have to admit that he did get a kick out of ogling all the Christian women in their Sunday best.
The one particular woman that caught his eye he knew slightly, her name was Emily Pitcher and they were both members of the same Golf club, Forest Ridge in the village of Forestdean.
She was a very wealthy woman by all accounts, which was self-evident by the way she was dressed, though her financial status was of secondary concern to him when he looked at her.
Everything Emily wore was real quality and she was always immaculately turned out.
So he was quite surprised on that day to see her standing chatting on the concourse wearing of all things, leggings, expensive, good quality leggings, but leggings nonetheless.
His surprise quickly abated however as he looked at the exquisite fit of the leggings and he was thinking very unchristian thoughts to himself concerning the great structure and form of her expensively clad quality shaped bum.
And when she shifted her body weight from one leg to the other she turned slightly towards him, just as a beam of sunlight fell upon her, or at least on the part of her he was looking at, as the shaft of light illuminated her hind quarters in the exquisitely fitted leggings.
It was at that point he decided to chance his arm; so after her conversation was over he got up and went over and intercepted her.
“Emily?” he said
“Oh hello” she replied, “Mr. Pini isn’t it?”
“Please call me Paul,” he said
“Paul” she complied
Once he had her attention they chatted about the Forest Ridge Golf Club and the upcoming ladies day.
“You must be in with a chance of a medal” Paul said “A player of your standard”
“Oh dear me” she said all flustered “I don’t know about that”
And having duly flattered her to the point of blushing he invited her to lunch at the Phoenix restaurant across the road, which she graciously accepted.
He was confident that she would, after all a woman of her age would always be at the very least flattered by the attention of a younger man especially one 9 years younger.
Michael had always been attracted to older women, not too much older five or ten years normally, but in her case he was attracted to her on a whole new level.
But of course by the time he reached his 50s there seemed to be an overabundance of suitably aged candidates, widows mainly, which could have kept him gainfully employed, but his attraction to Emily ran deeper than that.

They enjoyed a very pleasant lunch together, which consisted of three courses, two bottles of wine and an abundance of flirting, at the Phoenix which was a very decent eatery where after consuming liberal amounts of wine he walked her home.
“It was a very nice lunch Paul,” she said as he walked her up the driveway outside her very large house. “Thank you”
“My pleasure” he said, because it really had been a pleasure and then she asked
“Would you like to come in for coffee?”
“I would love to” he replied

After that first Sunday afternoon when they enjoyed coffee together on her patio, Emily and Paul became regular companions, on the Golf course, dining out together, theatre, cinema, walking up at Teardrop Lake, and coffee shops.
But it wasn’t until after he first accompanied her to church that they became a couple.

Those Memories Made on Teardrop Lake – (56) Maiden in Distress Again

(Part 01)

It was in the early nineties when Eleanor Gallaher knocked on the door of number 35 Finchbottom Road.
It was the Shallowfield home of Gregory and Amanda George, and had been for 15 years, ever since they were married.
It was a house that was very well known to Eleanor as she had been friends with Amanda for about 8 years despite being ten years younger.
“Is Amanda in?” she asked urgently when Greg had opened the door, although she already knew the answer before she asked the question, but he wasn’t to know that at the time.
Eleanor was pretty, but not beautiful, with a long face, a big toothy smile and long wavy straw coloured hair and she stood around five foot three in her flip flops.
As was the fashion of the time she was wearing knee length denim dungarees over a white t-shirt.
“I’m afraid not Ellie, she’s gone to Abbottsford so I’m not expecting her back until late” He replied, and to his great surprise tears started to well up in her eyes and then they ran down her cheeks as she sobbed.
Greg in an act of chivalry stepped into action and put his arm around her and guided her into the hall away from prying eyes.
He stood and comfort her without speaking when she said
“I’m sorry” and buried her tearstained face in his neck.
He made encouraging noises and stroked her back but being a shoulder to cry on, was the full extent of his expertise with crying women, even pretty young women that he had feelings for, and Ellie certainly fitted that bill to a tee.
Not that he could or would have done anything about it, even though his marriage was in its death throws.
He and Amanda were only together for two reasons one was that she was catholic and didn’t believe in divorce and the other one was laziness, it had become easier to maintain the status quo and stay together and live separate lives than to take decisive action to get on with their lives.
Greg was stooped over holding Ellie for some time until her sobs began to get shallower and shallower and eventually abated altogether but still she held on to him very tightly and after a few minutes she began to nuzzle his neck and he could feel her breath on his skin, which was when thoughts of comforting her took on a different meaning.
While still nuzzling his neck her hands began to caress up and down his back until her nuzzles turned to kisses and Greg reciprocated the caresses and in an instant her mouth was on his, and he tasted her soft salty lips, and hot mouth.
Ellie’s hands began to claw at his shirt, dragging it free from the waistband of his jeans and when she had succeeded, her trembling hands were on his flesh and she sighed and exhaled through her nose.

The kissing and the caressing finally gave way to pure lust and culminated in them making love in the in the spare room.
The reason for her distress was revealed to be that she had been dumped by her boyfriend, but the reason for the love making was the fact they had fancied each other almost from the first time they met.
A brief affair followed that first afternoon of fulfilling lust but Eleanor called a halt to it when she started dating a lad called Kevin and said
“Her boyfriend wouldn’t like it”.
Greg wasn’t happy about it because his feelings for her had deepened but what could he do, he had to respect her decision.

(Part 02)

Eleanor had called a halt to their brief affair when she started dating a lad called Kevin and said
“Her boyfriend wouldn’t like it”.
Greg wasn’t happy about it because his feelings for her had deepened but what could he do, he had to respect her decision.
But one Saturday morning when Greg was pottering about in the garage he was disturbed by a knock at the door.
Amanda was in Sunderland visiting her grandmother in hospital and wasn’t back until late on Sunday so he was enjoying himself making a mess without being reminded of the fact every thirty seconds.
He wiped his hands as he passed through the kitchen and opened the door and when he did Eleanor Gallaher pushed past him wearing the familiar knee length denim dungarees over a white t-shirt, and she was muttering something under her breath and started pacing up and down in the kitchen.
“What’s the matter?” he asked
But she just put a hand up in the “talk to the hand” gesture so he said no more and put the kettle on.
Greg made two drinks and picked one up and said as he headed out the door
“I’ll be in the garage when you’re ready to talk”
It was about ten minutes later when she appeared and shuffled silently in.
She had calmed down a lot but Greg didn’t say anything, he would wait for her to speak first, but in the end it was Greg’s action which broke the silence.
Eleanor was bending over a box of books and was looking through them and as she did so his gaze fell on the denim of her dungarees stretched tight around her buttocks.
Greg walked up behind her as she stood up from her perusal and he wrapped his arms around her middle and pulled her towards him and Eleanor turned her head towards him and he leant in to kiss her, which she did not try to evade.
“I thought you said your boyfriend wouldn’t like it?” he said as she turned towards him for another kiss.
“He’s not going to get it” she replied and took the kiss that she wanted.

After they made love in the garage and had redressed themselves he went in the house and got a couple of cans of beer from the fridge while Eleanor went to pee and when she appeared he handed her a beer.
“So what made you change your mind?” he asked
“I didn’t really” Eleanor replied “I broke up with Kevin”
“Why?” he asked
“He was playing away” she said bitterly “all the while I was being faithful and not letting you touch me, he was shagging some slutty barmaid”
“I’m sorry,” he said sincerely
“I don’t know why you’re sorry” she said, “You got what you wanted”
“So did you” he corrected her
“Yes I did” she replied and blushed
“But I don’t want you to think this was just revenge sex”
“It’s alright I don’t mind” Greg said
“That’s not what I mean” Eleanor said
“I want us to become a regular thing again, I was stupid to push you away”
“I see” he said
“I’m still looking for Mr. Right though” she stated “but I want you as well”
So she stood up and wriggled out of her dungarees and ran to the spare room giggling.

Those Memories Made on Teardrop Lake – (54) The Birdspotter

(Part 01)

James Ruddock was a 25 year old singleton and was what they used to call a twitcher, although nowadays they prefer to be called birders and he was staying at the Shallowfield Lodge Hotel at the head of Teardrop Lake.
The view of the lake from the Hotel was spectacular.
The lake was shaped like a teardrop, hence its name, and surrounded by the ancient woodland of the Dancingdean Forrest.
It wasn’t a huge body of water, just over two miles long and almost a mile at its widest point.
It was beautiful and relatively unspoilt which was the reason he chose it.
A lot of avid bird watchers gravitated to the Finchbottom Vale and the Dancingdean Forest in particular.
Teardrop Lake and the surrounding woodland was privately owned and divided into twelve parcels of land, each with one significant dwelling on it, although there were a number of cottages dotted around as well, some in use and some not.
It was both idyllic and peaceful, there was little or no noise pollution and although the lake was used there no speed boats or jet skis, only rowing boats, canoes, dinghies and skiffs.

James was a bit of a loaner so birdwatching was the perfect hobby for him.
He would have preferred not to be such a loaner but unfortunately he was a bit socially awkward, but the main reason he was alone was because he was shy and preferred to go unnoticed which is difficult to do when you’re 6ft 4 with flaming red hair.

On his fifth day by the lake he was up bright and early and headed up into the woods around the Lake and was heading for lover leap.
It was a rocky promontory which was a location that had been recommended to him.

Lovers Leap was on a rocky outcrop above the cliffs that were an extension of those that formed part of the northern side of Teardrop Lake and formed the natural border between the Teardrop estate and the Dancingdean Forest proper.
Lovers Leap was so called because it was where desperate and broken hearted lovers would leap to their deaths, although there was no evidence that anyone actually had, but it made a good story.

He was following the directions he received from Anna Hunt at the Hotel and was walking along the northern perimeter road when a girl on horseback rode by, he didn’t know it at the time but he knew her, she was staying at the Lodge.
James couldn’t see the girls face but he thought she looked quite cute, and she was only a tiny little thing sat astride a great chestnut coloured colt as he watched her trot off into the distance.

He eventually reached Lovers Leap where the rocky shelf jutted out above the cliffs and Anna was right, the view was amazing.
But he thought that if he were a desperate and broken hearted lover preparing to leap to his death the view probably wouldn’t influence his decision.
But James did suspect that there had probably been a lot of loving up there over the centuries.
James spent about two hours up on the exposed rocky shelf and then he decided to head off into the cool of the forest.

(Part 02)

James spent about two hours up on the exposed rocky shelf and then he decided to head off into the cool of the forest.
Anna at the Hotel had given him a number of popular birding sites and he was looking for a small clearing where a Green Woodpecker had been sited.
Well it was about an hour into his trek when he realized he was hopelessly lost, blundering about in the woods and he was desperately looking for a landmark.
The woods seemed to be getting thicker and thicker and darker and darker and James was starting to get despondent when he saw a glimmer of light though the trees.
So he headed towards the source of the light, which he hoped would be the small clearing he was looking for.
As he got closer he could see there was someone in the clearing already, sitting on a blanket.
So he took out his binoculars to get a closer look and he saw it was Anna from the Hotel.
He moved a little closer and was about to ask her to direct him back to the path to civilization when she stood up and took off her dress to reveal a yellow bikini.
“Oh my” he said to himself as he studied a most interesting scene.
“This is much better than a Green Woodpecker” he said to himself “Much better”
Anna was a year or two younger than James straight brown hair and a rather plain, heavily freckled face, but lovely blue eyes, a cute nose and a thin-lipped smile.
It wasn’t the usual type of bird he was spotting for but it was a rare sighting indeed.
It was his habit to write down his more exotic sighting in his little book and he had nothing in his book to equal Anna.

Looking beyond the figure of Anna he could see there was a well-defined path which he thought if he followed would lead him back to Shallowfield as he was ready for his lunch.
It had been a very pleasant diversion from birdwatching but he wasn’t comfortable to spy on her further.
However he still had the problem of getting back to Shallowfield without crossing the clearing or being seen by Anna and it was as he was pondering this problem that Anna turned around and looked directly at him and smiled, and then she gestured him to join her.

“I’m so sorry” he said as he approached “I didn’t mean to look”
“That’s alright you were meant to” she retorted
“Wwhat?” he stammered
“I’ve been trying to get your attention all week” she said and slithered up to him and embraced him and when the kiss was over she said
“Now don’t you think that’s better than bird watching?”
“Oh yes definitely” he replied and leant in for another helping and thought.
“This is definitely going in the book”

Those Memories Made on Teardrop Lake – (53) That’s why I Love you so Much

Dave Bingham and Ann O'Neill were students at Abbottsford University and had been dating for a several months before they made love for the first time, but after that first time when they took each other’s innocence, they could barely keep their hands off each other and when they spent a week of their Easter break staying at the Shallowfield Lodge Hotel they saw very little of the beautiful Dancingdean Forest or Teardrop Lake after all that was not why they were there.

One morning Ann was curled up beside him beneath the duvet with her head on his chest and she was panting and sighing after the exertion of their love making, and as she sighed he kissed the top of her head.
“Breakfast time I think” he said
“Good idea” she agreed
Dave knew that Ann wouldn’t get up and dress with him in the room, even though they had made love countless times, and he had seen her beautiful body up close and personal on many of those occasions, so he slipped out of bed and left her to sort herself out while he went into the bathroom to give her some privacy.
He sat on the edge of the bath and thought to himself how much he loved her and especially her modesty and shyness.

After what he thought was an adequate time for her to make herself decent he opened the bathroom door and stepped into the room.
Ann was shuffling towards him still buttoning her shorts with her eyes focused on the task.
When she finally looked up and saw him watching her she went immediately scarlet and looked away.
Dave took hold of her arm and pulled her towards him and she buried her face in his chest and held onto him in a vice like grip.
“I can’t believe you’re still shy” He said “after what we just did”
Ann didn’t answer
“But I love it that you are” he added
“Really?” Came a muffled query
“Yes” he replied “it’s why I love you so much
“You love me?” she asked in a childlike voice.
“Yes, so you’ll have to come out from my chest and give me a kiss,” he added
“A kiss?” she asked
“Yes, I must have a kiss” he insisted “Because I love you”
Reluctantly her head emerged from his chest but she still didn’t raise her eyes to look at him but said quietly
“I love you too”
Dave put his hand on her chin and lifted it gently up and then he put his lips to hers and so began a rather lengthy and immensely enjoyable kiss.
In fact it was such a deeply satisfying kiss that he began undressing her again and she offered no resistance.

Inside his head he questioned the morality of doing what he was doing but it was a short discourse, after all it was what he had imagined so often in his dreams, so decided to undo the buttons on either side of the waistband of her dungarees and Greg’s hands were on her hips and with great manual dexterity he undid both buttons simultaneously and his hands then mimicked the movement of her own and caressed the soft naked skin of her back.
However Ellie broke away suddenly from their embrace and backed towards the banisters.
There were still tearstains on her cheeks and her eyes were red but she had a broad toothy grin on her face as her hands undid the straps on her dungarees and she let them fall to the floor and then she stood there in a white t-shirt and navy blue knickers before then she kicked her clothes and flips flops aside and she returned to his arms which scooped her up and he carried her to the spare bedroom.

They were laying beneath the duvet in the afterglow when he said.
“What were you crying about anyway?”
“I broke up with my boyfriend” she said
“Oh I’m sorry, why was that?” he asked
“He said I was no good in bed” she replied
“Well now you have a second opinion” he said

Those Memories Made on Teardrop Lake – (51) When Worlds Collide

When Terry Argent awoke from an erotic dream as his train was just pulling into Shallowfield station.
He got off the train and walked quickly homeward wishing he’d not woken up from his dream, which was not so much a dream as a remembrance of the night he spent with Carol Bowman and in particular the part where she was beside him in his bed, and that remembrance aroused him.
It began to rain heavily as he walked along the platform and that, combined with the knowledge that Carol very much regretted the night they spent together and was adamant that she didn’t want to repeat it anytime soon, cooled his ardour.
He quickened his pace and as he rushed headlong around a corner he met someone coming the other way and they collided and both ended up on their backsides on the pavement.
“I’m so sorry” he said getting quickly to his feet and proffering a hand to the prostrated figure of Carol Bowman which she took.
“Nonsense” she replied, “I wasn’t looking where I was going, my mind was elsewhere”
“Mine too” Andrew said “are you ok? Are you hurt?”
“Only my pride” Carol replied
They dusted themselves off, figuratively speaking, and there was a brief moment of awkwardness as the spectre of their alcohol fuelled night of lust the previous weekend reared up.
“Anyway” she said “Duties to perform”
“Yes” he agreed “things to do”
They tried to part company, which they did as clumsily as they had come together in the first place, and ended up face to face.
“I want to kiss you” he said and moved towards her and Carol’s lips parted in anticipation but she dodged him at the last second
“I’m on duty” PC Bowman replied
“I still want to kiss you” he said “especially in your uniform”
“If you were to do that I would have to arrest you” she retorted
“I’ll risk it” he said and kissed her and Carol responded
“Terry Argent I am arresting you for assaulting a police officer”
She said and handcuffed him and frogmarched him around the corner and put him in the back of a Blue Ford Focus.
“I thought you were on duty” he said
“I lied” Carol replied “my shift ended an hour ago”
“So what are you going to do with me?” he asked
“Absolutely everything” the PC replied

Downshire Diary – (50) On the Night of the Lord Lieutenant’s Summer Ball

(Part 01)

Neil Etherington was an average man approaching his thirtieth birthday not that he was a bad looking man, he wasn’t, but he wasn’t stunning, sexy or buff, he was strictly middling but his girlfriend
Samantha Barraclough was anything but, she was an absolute beauty three years younger, elegant, daintily petite, intelligent, funny, sexy and with a perfectly beautiful angelic voice, pure Carrington Chase educated perfection, Carrington Chase being Downshire’s version of Roedean, although those in Downshire thought it was the other way around, and it was a voice that made Charlotte Green sound common.
He pinched himself at the start of everyday, especially the ones on which he woke up beside her, just to check he wasn’t dreaming.
Because the good fortune that brought Samantha into his life was the type of thing that didn’t happen to him, and everyone who witnessed them together unanimously agreed that he was punching well above his weight.
They first encountered each other at a business meeting at the Abbottsford Regents Hotel, where she was a potential new client and he was trying to win a new account, but the meeting was unresolved as it was love at first sight.

Neil worked for a firm of architects called New Horizons whose head office was in Sharpington by Sea while Samantha Barraclough was approaching her 28th birthday and was a project consultant for the family business, Barraclough Ventures and the project that Samantha’s company was heading up was the regeneration of the former Industrial Power House of the county, Northchapel.

The love that bloomed between Samantha Barraclough and Neil Etherington in Abbottsford in June went from strength to strength
However things had not been all plain sailing since they had met, though not between the two of them they were completely simpatico.
The problems stemmed from a different quarter entirely and from those who should have been the most delighted for them, their close friends and family.
Neil and Samantha were the victims of snobbery, inverted and otherwise.
Her family thought she had set her sights to low while his nearest and dearest believed he had set his too high.
Her friends thought he was common while his thought she was a snob.
Only their closest friends Jonathon Hardman and Isabelle Decoene stuck by them.

So as a result they had found it difficult to fit inside each other’s worlds, but the couple believed that love will out and Samantha drew a line under the difficulties when she said
“If you can’t live in my world and I can’t live in yours we shall just have to make a world of our own”
If he hadn’t been in love with her already he certainly would have been after that speech.

However there were still some events that she was required to attend as a representative of the company, such as the Lord Lieutenant’s Summer Ball which was why he was at home alone in Brocklington on Saturday night.
He spent the day in the garden pottering about and the evening watching TV but by ten o’clock he was feeling a bit restless so he decided to take a shower then he would have a nightcap and go to bed.

(Part 02)

Although she had suggested they create a world their own there were still some events that she was required to attend as a representative of the company, such as the Lord Lieutenant’s Summer Ball which was why he was at home alone in Brocklington on Saturday night.
He spent the day in the garden pottering about and the evening watching TV but by ten o’clock he was feeling a bit restless so he decided to take a shower then he would have a nightcap and go to bed.

It was about half an hour later as he was coming down the stairs when the doorbell rang.
He had no idea who it might be, he certainly wasn’t expecting anyone and when he opened the door he was surprised to see Samantha standing on the doorstep in full evening wear and over her shoulder he could see a taxi pulling away.
“Hello” he said with genuine surprise
“Hello Darling” Samantha said and kissed him,
“Can I come in then?”
“Of course” he said fussily “come in, come in”
Once inside she slipped off her stole and walked through to the lounge looking absolutely gorgeous in a full-length black evening dress which was as usual perfectly accessorized with long elbow length gloves and clutch purse, etcetera, and he imagined her to be fully accessorized under the dress as well.
“You’re a bit overdressed for Brocklington” he observed while mentally undressing her.
“I know” Samantha said as she sat down “I was going to the Ball but…”
“But?” he asked
“I couldn’t face everyone quizzing me”
“About what?” he quizzed
“About my choice in men” she replied
“I’m sorry,” he said inadequately
“I’m not” Samantha said defiantly “I would rather be here with you”
And then she kissed him again
“So Cinders didn’t go to the ball” she added
“I prefer you to be here as well” he admitted
“And you’re welcome to wine and dine here”
“Well thank you kind sir” Sam said “Lead me to the wine”
Neil walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge and took out an open bottle of wine and two large wine glasses from the cupboard and filled them.
But before he returned to the lounge Samantha walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him.
“I love you” she said
“That’s good, I wouldn’t want a woman to spend the night with me who didn’t love me” Neil said
“You’re being a bit presumptive” Sam said
“Well I did see the taxi drive away” he retorted
“I can easily call another one” Sam added
“Oh ok then” Neil responded “I’ll just get the phone”
“Don’t you dare” Sam exclaimed and playfully punched his back and he turned around to face her
“Ok you can stay” Neil said and kissed her “But only because I love you”
